Hi! I’m a pediatric OT and founder of Adaptations Unlimited. My practice is founded on the idea that by supporting the entire family, we make the greatest difference for the child. I’m no stranger to the challenges of a medical crisis. I’ve had to overcome health challenges – both for myself and my family. I don’t know your crisis, but I do understand the deeply personal experience of going through difficult times. I especially understand the challenges that come from navigating a confusing insurance system. I am fiercely committed to serving families through providing high-quality occupational therapy services that are practical, transformative, and most of all – tap into each child’s unique interests and strengths. I am equally committed to cultivating a positive work environment to bring out the unique strengths of the individuals on our team. I have extensive training in treating a variety of conditions and strive to educate and empower all families.

I currently provide evaluations, mentoring and consultations in all counties we serve, and provide therapy services in Crystal Lake, Woodstock, McHenry and surrounding areas.

I have a passion for nature and love gardening with my husband and two kids. We even keep honeybees and chickens and tap our trees for maple syrup! I love road trips and aim to take one each year with my family. When I was a child, I loved playing outside with my friends! This frequently included making mud and berry concoctions or hanging out in the woods, building elaborate forts.

As an OT, I love getting to engage kids in play and help them improve their participation in daily routines. Since becoming a mom, I am more aware of the privilege of being allowed into peoples homes and lives. I’m dedicated to supporting the parent/child bond as we work together to find solutions. I am passionate about learning from the autistic community and providing neurodiversity affirming care. It’s my hope that families will feel less stress and find more joy as they go through daily routines and are better able to engage with their child.

I am majorly extroverted, but also love reading and can be found drinking an iced latte all year long. I love to travel and explore new places and cultures.

As a child, I was often found creating activities (e.g. school, backyard circus, Disney dance routines) for all of our neighborhood kids and running my own summer camp- future therapist vibes!

My work with families is what makes my job as an OT so rewarding. My best work comes out when I get to form personal relationships and tailor my services. It’s such an honor to watch kiddos grow, develop, and learn! I have some special areas of interest, including supporting families of infants recently discharged from the NICU, children who have orthopedic differences, and children with neurological diagnoses.

Rachel Hodges

As a DT, my mission is to empower each family with tools and strategies to teach their child and progress towards their goals. Nothing beats witnessing the excitement of the child and family when a goal is met! With developmental therapy, I help children with a variety of delays/diagnosis by supporting: learning, play skills, social skills. I value supporting the other therapists on a child’s team by incorporating their strategies into my sessions to help support families with carryover.

I live in Antioch with my partner, our four kids and two dogs. Since childhood, I have loved reading. So much so, that one summer in high school I read 14 books! When not working, you’ll find me boating, swimming at the lake, or baking for others. Traveling is a big part of my life and so far I’ve visited 14 different countries.

Saray Popoca

Billing Manager

You won’t see me in your home but I keep things running behind the scenes for all the therapists! I’m responsible for checking benefits, coordinating authorizations and billing. I feel so thankful to be a part of this team because I believe therapy makes a big difference and I see my role as playing a small but important part. I find it rewarding working for a practice that specializes in early intervention because I know what an impact these services can have during the early years of a child’s life. Plus, I may not get to meet the children but I get inspired just reading about their accomplishments.

I have two children and being a parent inspires me to help other families have an exceptional experience. My last name is Popoca which comes from the Aztec word Popocatépetl referring to one of two volcanoes in Mexico called Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl. Based on a folklore version of Romeo and Juliet, the volcanoes represent the Aztec warrior Popocatépetl and the Aztec princess Iztaccíhuatl. The gods turned them into volcanoes after their tragic deaths.

I have worked in HR and Administration at tech startups, where I learned to use technology to work efficiently. This helps me make daily tasks smoother and improve how things run here. I’m excited because Adaptations Unlimited cares about its employees and helping others. That’s something I really admire and enjoy being part of.

I’m a mom to a 7-year-old and married to a tech-loving engineer. In my free time, I volunteer in my community and spend time with friends, and occasionally enjoy playing video games. Growing up, I loved playing with Barbies and creating fancy outfits for them with tissue paper. I also enjoyed board games like Sequence and Monopoly.

Hi there! I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist. During my Masters program, I was fortunate to have a graduate assistantship at SIU’s Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders. I have always had a strong passion for working with children, but it was really during this time that I knew pediatric intervention was the place for me! Quickly after school ended, I began working with the Illinois Early Intervention program. Although this job can be challenging at times, it is beyond rewarding. I love being part of a team and sharing in each victory along the way.

My family means everything to me, and I’d be lost without them. I am the youngest of 4 and have been blessed with three nieces and two nephews. In January of 2020, I rescued my dog, Queen, who keeps me busy! I enjoy working out, laying by the pool, going to concerts, and traveling. My favorite season is football (Fall). Bear down! Growing up, I loved playing outside whether it was Capture the Flag, Ghost in the Graveyard, Freeze Tag, or riding bikes.

I have an older brother and a corgi named Chester. I love to spend my time planning my next trip, exploring new coffee shops, and seeing friends on the weekend for movies or brunch.
I loved coming up with games to play with my childhood best friends who lived in the same neighborhood as me. We would come up with spy or mission-focused games that had us cruising through the neighborhood on foot or bike.

My favorite thing about being an OT is being able to see how much confidence and growth my clients have as they improve their skills. I am very passionate about building emotional regulation skills as well as building activity routines with families. I love getting to work with families in their natural spaces in the community and am currently learning more about incorporating mindful movement into my sessions with families!

I love using the cognitive orientation to daily occupation strategy during sessions with children and families receiving early intervention services, because it allows me to collaborate with families to set a goal, make a plan, do the activity/routine and then check to see how things went in order to support progress toward their outcomes!
